I’ve always liked small board books, but have been disappointed when they only have six spreads or less. In my experience, babies are only interested in them the first couple of times they encounter them. They quickly become just something to gnaw on. 

I think picture books are magic. At least the best ones are, and translating them naturally means remaking some magic.
